In Uruguaiana-RS, the Civic-Military School Program was implemented in 2020, at the Municipal Elementary School Elvira Ceratti and considered the scope and location of the educational institution. In 2023, the Federal Government published Federal Decree No. 11,611/2023, revoking the National Program for Civic-Military Schools, thus breaking with an ideological, conservative and reactionary education proposal. After the revocation of the Program, members of conservative groups in the National Congress presented bills recreating the aforementioned Program in the Brazilian State. In Uruguaiana, since the closure of the National Civic-Military Schools Program, two official requests were presented to the Municipal Council of Uruguaiana addressed to the Municipal Executive Branch of Uruguaiana for the maintenance of the Civic-Military School Program in Uruguaiana. The Brazilian and local scenario indicates and warns that the National Civic-Military Schools Program still has political support in Brazilian parliaments and even support from State Governors. Because of this, a study was produced, from the context of Uruguaiana, on the impact of the closure of the Program and the initiatives of far-right groups in maintaining militarism in Brazilian public schools.
